Come join the official WildStar Wiki IRC channel: chat.freenode.net, #wildstarwiki

To enable in-depth conversations and fast responses to questions, an IRC channel has been created. Administrators are frequently online and can assist with questions or issues. This is a community resource, so please make yourself at home. WildStar Wiki and Gamepedia use the Freenode IRC network. Gamepedia's channel can be reached at #gamepedia.

What is IRC?[]

Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a form of real-time Internet text messaging (chat) or synchronous conferencing. It is mainly designed for group communication in discussion forums, called channels, but also allows one-to-one communication via private message as well as chat and data transfer (including file sharing).

Channel rules[]

  1. Be civil. Abusive language, harassment, personal attacks, and trolling are not tolerated.
  2. No spamming or large blocks of text. If needed, use a pasting service like Pastey.org.
  3. No exploits or other topics that break Carbine's EULA or TOS, including testing NDA, will be discussed on the channel.
  4. English is the official language.

Basic IRC commands[]

Basic IRC commands can be used by everyone. Commands begin with a forward slash followed directly by the command: (Note: Do not type < or > in these commands)

/join #<channel> -- Connects you to <channel>. All channels are preceeded by a hash (#).

/nick <NewNick> -- Changes your current nick to <NewNick>

/me <action> -- Displays <action> in the chatroom (i.e. /me waves yields "*JohnSmith waves" to the chatroom)

/away <Message> -- Sets your status to Away and sends <Message> to anyone who messages you

/msg <nick> <message> -- Sends <message> only to to <nick> rather than the channel at large

/quit -- Terminates your IRC connection

Additional help and commands can be found on Freenode's new user guide or on Wikibooks' IRC page.
