Woolie is a ground mount.
The agile and friendly woolie has served the Aurin as a beast of burden for millennia. Docile and easily trained, wild woolies once roamed the surface of Arboria in massive herds, foraging for plants, leaves, and low-hanging fruit. Due to the razing of the planet by the Chua Planet Reapers, the woolie herds have become little more than a pleasant memory for the few Aurin who remain behind. The majority of the woolie species native to Arboria are now considered to be extinct.
Woolies are warm-blooded animals with thick clumps of feathers and an undercoat similar to wooly avian fluff. Plumage color varies based on individual species, though the common woolie is purple and white. A series of spots on the woolie’s back and neck act as visual sensory organs, making woolies incredibly hard to sneak up on. It is suspected that woolies evolved from a flightless species of bird-like mammals sometime in Arboria’s distant past.
While the majority of woolies are strict herbivores, a handful of species are omnivorous, if not strictly carnivorous. Such woolies can be identified by their sharp, pointed teeth and increased aggression. Aurin fighters train such carnivorous woolies for battle, and these so-called “war woolies” have proven quite effective, even against Cassian velocirexes.
Trained woolies have a lifespan of 15 to 20 years.
